The Patriot Act

The Patriot Act was enacted in 2001. It allows the government to listen to your phone conversations, go through your emails, or tap into any type of communication in order to see if you're a terrorist. If you say key words on the phone like bomb, kill the president, hijack, etc, your conversation will be logged and reviewed. If it's serious, you might get some official looking visitors on your doorstep.
